About
Who's building it
Ten years in web development has given me a wide surface area: React and Next.js on the front, Node and PHP behind them, MySQL and Postgres underneath, and AWS holding the whole thing together (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, SNS, SQS). The parts I enjoy most are where those layers meet, which is usually also where things break.
I joined Kitces.com in 2021 as a front-end developer, working in React and the Genesis framework, and moved into a senior full-stack role in 2025. Most of my time now goes to serverless architecture and API design. Alongside that I've kept a freelance practice running since 2016, building and maintaining sites for small businesses around Boston.
I started in São Paulo: four years studying Information Systems, then a help desk, then coordinating IT, then writing software.
Then a year in Dublin, on an internship and learning English properly, with a whole continent in weekend reach. London, Scotland, Italy, Belgium, Amsterdam, France, Germany, Greece. That year rearranged how I think about most things. I went back to Brazil afterwards, and a year later decided I wanted a harder version of the same experiment: the United States, where I have been ever since.
I also work on the data side, mostly Looker Studio and Tableau, which in practice means turning a pile of numbers into something a person can actually act on.
